EBG MedAustron GmbH in Wiener Neustadt operates one of the most modern centers for particle therapy and research in Europe. Cancer patients are treated with an innovative form of radiation therapy with protons and carbon ions. In addition to cancer treatment the facility is also used for translational research.

 

Our Power Converters, Magnets and Infrastructure (PCMI) team is responsible for the design, installation, commissioning, debugging and upgrade of power converters, magnets and related infrastructure.

Firmware & Electronics Engineer (f/m/x)

 

Challenges you conquer:

Be responsible for maintaining and upgrading the code of in-house developed CRB (Control Regulation Board) installed in more than 300 power converters across MedAustron.

This involves:

  • Firmware implementation from specification to implementation via a product release process
  • Performing unit and integration tests of your created/modified code
  • Work with test team to ensure bug free firmware releases
  • Collaborating with the team to develop tools for debugging the power converters and for improvement of the downtime
  • Modelling and improving the digital control regulation of power converters and magnets
  • Developing code to work with various industry standard hardware technologies like USB, SPI, UART
  • Support the PCMI team in commissioning and testing of various power converters
  • Support and train our operation and services teams
  • Participation in the commissioning and operation of the accelerator (which requires some shift work)

A background that impresses:

  • Academic studies (BSc, MSc or PhD) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience and sound knowledge within the following fields:
    • Programming in C and/or C#
    • Analogue and digital electronics
  • Good knowledge of DSP and FPGA
  • Ideally experience in power electronics (renewable sources, railways, electrical automotive) or electronics/electrical systems
  • Modelling and regulation knowledge is an asset
  • Fluency in verbal and written English; German is an advantage
  • Coordination skills and producing good documentation complete your profile
  • Willingness to fulfill work outside normal business hours, on-call support and to do business trips inside and outside of Europe

For the advertised position we offer a gross annual salary from € 45.000,– (on a full-time basis) with the possibility of overpayment, depending on professional qualifications and experience.
